Arvos Sustainability

Environmental consciousness is fundamental to our core values. Here at arvos we’re also acutely aware of the impact we all have on the sensitive ecosystems surrounding us: systems that are not only vital to our wellbeing but our very existence.

Our brand embodies and promotes the concept of being active outdoors: of immersing ourselves in nature so that we might find a sense of peace and oneness within ourselves that will allow us to disconnect from the damaging stresses of our modern lives.
We also recognise during our early stages we are not yet perfect in all our practices, but we will continue to constantly improve and streamline as we develop. In the meantime, we are delighted to have officially partnered with Take 3 for the Sea which will provide us with additional guidance and support through our environmentally sustainable journey.

However, not only do we strive to be an environmentally conscious company, we want to actively give back to our Earth by raising environmental awareness and bringing about positive change. Part of this will be achieved through our support for Take 3s’ clean-up projects and campaigns.

We hope that our tagline, ‘in our nature’ conveys to you our profound sense of responsibility and genuine duty of care to our planet.

“We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”

– Anne Marie Bonneau

We believe in the compounding effect of small actions in large numbers generating significant results.
Whether it’s by simply taking 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach or by donating to organisations like Take 3 for the Sea, we all have the power to influence positive change.

Everytime you shop with us, you in turn support Take 3 for the Sea and have the opportunity to donate yourself. Follow and support us on our journey of environmental sustainability, or what we like to refer to as ‘our pursuit for Eco-Librium.’

our conscious practices

We are approaching sustainability on various levels, from sourcing, production to our packaging.

We’ve included our organic cotton canvas pouches for the first 300 orders. Great for keeping your swimwear or jewellery safe.

Compostable materials are an essential part of our project towards reducing our carbon footprint. Most of arvos products are packaged in our custom 100% biodegradable, compostable and carbon neutral made from corn starch.

We’ve found better use of fishing nets. All our boardies are constructed from a blend of cotton and recycled polyester. These high performing trunks have heaps of stretch for comfort with vintage styles.

Our long sleeve surf suites are designed to maximise protection without compromising comfort. Constructed with arvos premium quality hardware and our signature 83% recycled fabric, the ultra-soft lining allows you to maximise each session with a warm heart and a healthy smile.

The Rise tank top made from our super soft bamboo blend has a positive impact on global environmental concerns such as water scarcity, deforestation, soil erosion and the greenhouse effect. Bamboo is by far a more sustainable textile than cotton, four times more absorbent, helping to evaporate moisture quickly and effectively.

SUSTAINABLE FABRIC WORKING PROCESS

A crucial advantage of using recycled polyester over virgin polyester is the reduction of bottles in landfills. Plastic bottles are reused in the fibre production process of recycled polyester and this in turn has major benefits for reducing contamination of the earth as well as water and air pollution. This also means reduced use of petroleum which is used in the creation of virgin poly. Choosing recycled poly over its virgin counterpart also means a 20% reduction in water consumption and 30% less Co2 emissions. We work closely with our suppliers to minimise as much waste as possible.

Ethical Practices

Our factory has been inspected and assessed in accordance with the Global Recycled Standards (GRS) and holds a Workplace Conditions Assessment Report (WCA) to monitor their operation and encourage sustainable practices and fair work conditions.

Prior to embarking on the arvos journey we insisted on personally visiting potential facilities across Asia as part of our due diligence mission. We feel a deep sense of responsibility to personally visit and experience the working environments and conditions of where our products are created.

We felt privileged to enjoy traditional teas, meals and some laughs with the team, before committing to long business relationships with our main suppliers.
